The forecaster warned of snow and ice continuing into Saturday across the eastern coast of Britain stretching from Lowestoft in Suffolk to East Lothian in Scotland.

"Snow showers over northern Scotland and eastern England will also start to affect parts of western United Kingdom during Friday evening and night", reads the warning on the Met Office website.
