HMD Global is kicking off pre-orders for this highly aspirational device in some markets right away and it will be interesting to see the response it gets.
With wireless charging and under display fingerprint sensor, "Nokia 9 PureView" produces images in high dynamic range (HDR) where five cameras simultaneously capture the image and fuse it together into one 12 megapixel (MP) photo, the company said in a statement.
HMD Global now sells Nokia phones in partnership with Nokia and Foxconn. That's a full 12-megapixel shot created from an amalgam of 5 cameras, all with adjustable depth information and Nokia is saying that captures can include up to 1200 depth layers in total. The Nokia PureView is also IP67 certified for water and dust resistance and packs a USB Type-C port. It is powered by a 10nm Qualcomm SDM845 Snapdragon 845 chipset, with a GPU of Adreno 630 paired with a 6GB RAM and 128GB of on-board storage, and runs of Android 9.0 (Pie).
The 9 PureView has the capability to shoot in RAW format, giving the user all the data to process and adjust in post-production, just like professional cameras do. HMD worked closely with Qualcomm to extract the most power out of its Snapdragon 845 processor and distribute the workload efficiently across the platform. The Nokia 9 PureView comes in Midnight Blue color for $699 and will be available, starting March 2019.
