Spring training is nearly upon us and Bryce Harper is still a free agent in Major league Baseball.

Infielder Manny Machado and outfielder Bryce Harper have yet to agree to a deal. "Obviously, things happen that of course (general manager Brian Cashman) and his staff can pivot on certain things, but I think it's safe to assume that we're going to spring training with the team that we expect to have". It was once thought that Harper could land a decade-long contract that would pay him anywhere between $300 million and $400 million.

The #SFGiants recently met with Bryce Harper. The left-handed outfielder has been one of the most exciting players in the game for a few years now and stands to make quite a bit of money with whatever team he ends up with. If he wants to set records, the biggest deal in baseball history was Giancarlo Stanton's $325 million extension, and Zack Greinke has the highest annual average value ever at more than $34 million. The Washington Nationals are said to be interested in bringing Harper back, but thus far, no real progress has been made for the former MVP. It seems very unlikely the Giants would be willing to offer Harper an eight- to 10-year long-term deal but seem they would be more in the neighborhood of a three- to five-year deal.

Measles infections hit decade high in Europe
Almost 500 adults were vaccinated in the first week of February, up from an average of 176 in the years before. Five of the cases involved young children, some of whom received one round of the two-part vaccine.

There have surely been discussions of other terms since then, but they have not floated out from behind closed doors. It could be a meeting just to see where Harper stands. From what I heard, Harper is not thrilled with playing there. He's been on the trade block all offseason - and before that - as the 27-year-old is both a standout and can't be a free agent until 2021. I am starting a petition for the other 28 teams in the Major League Baseball to offer this man a contract to keep him out of NY.

According to Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area, the Giants met this week with Harper.

"If he comes over, he makes the team better", Gregorius said.
