General Motors had very recently announced that it would be turning its Cadillac brand as its "lead electric vehicle brand", as the playground for electric cars has further leveled. It's part of GM's plan to turn Cadillac into its EV leader in an attempt to lure sales away from Tesla while also countering the onslaught of EVs in the pipeline at the German luxury brands.
The company hasn't elaborated on its Friday announcement or said when the Cadillac EV will be built, whether it will be a crossover or sedan, or where it will be assembled.
"They have done a lot to popularize electric vehicles and get in the minds of consumers", he said.
Cadillac furthered its recent product blitz today with the reveal of the brand's first EV.

"It will represent the height of luxury and innovation while positioning Cadillac as the pinnacle of mobility", explains Cadillac president Steve Carlisle.
There's barely any details about the auto itself but Cadillac assured everyone that they all will be revealed in time, closer to the vehicle's launch. It claims we'll see one new model every six months through 2021.
We don't know the name of the first pure electric Cadillac for the moment.
The EV platform can accommodate a variety of battery sizes, and can be configured to for front-, rear-, or all-wheel drive setups. GM says its adaptability will speed up new vehicle development time as well. Cadillac says that what makes this framework different from others are the drive units and battery cells.
