Kevin Hart has officially stepped down as the host of the upcoming Academy Awards after facing controversy over recently resurfaced tweets from almost a decade ago, containing homophobic remarks and offensive slurs. Jimmy Kimmel has hosted the last two years in a row. Just a couple of days after he was announced as host of the next Oscars, the comedian said he would be stepping down amid a firestorm over his past tweets. 'I sincerely apologize to the LGBTQ community for my insensitive words from my past'. On the 4th of December, Tuesday, the 39-year-old comedian said he would be at the helm of the Oscars next year.
In another that remained up as of publication time, Hart says, "Lmao @ all of the woman asking me where the pic is, I'm not passing along a pic of a naked man!"
This is a breaking story and will be updated.
Earlier this week, it was announced that Hart would be this year's Oscars host.
Rather was set to produce the 84th Academy Awards, but when asked what his plans for the show were, he commented that, 'Rehearsal is for f*gs.' This came during a public Q&A while he was out promoting his latest movie Tower Heist.
The Guardian also reported that Hart had made similar anti-gay comments in his comedy routines, with the performer telling an audience in 2010: "One of my biggest fears is my son growing up and being gay".

"We feed internet trolls and we reward them". I've done it. I'm not going to continue to go back and...
Mr Hart has since deleted some of the anti-gay tweets, mostly dated from 2009-2011.
He followed up that tweet with another: "I then explained to them that it's hard to know what angry things people are saying when you stay away from the places that angry people love". I want to thank my family/friends/fans for supporting me & riding with me all this time. My goal is to bring people together not tear us apart.
"I chose to pass on the apology", Mr Hart said. Regardless, Academy, I'm thankful and appreciative of the opportunity. "And if he doesn't, I don't think we should hold him accountable, I think we should just remember and forgive him".
'My team calls me, "Oh my God, Kevin, the world is upset about tweets you did years ago" Oh my God. I live to Love. Please take your negative energy and put it into something constructive.
