Microsoft made a decision to begin the Windows 10 October 2018 Update rollout process for the public yesterday, skipping the release for the Release Preview ring. It'll become more widely available October 9, according to ZDNet.
According to Intel, the issue is with 6th Generation (codenamed Skylake) or newer processors, however, Microsoft hasn't specified which devices are being blocked from receiving the latest update. Windows has decided it's update time, and also that you can go fuck yourself.
So now some owners will have to update their hardware in order to get devices with the proper Windows 10 driver/OS support or they will be forced to maybe try some Linux Distro.
If you're prepared to install the Redstone 5 update right now, be aware that you'll need to reboot for the changes to take effect, and the reboot process may take 30 minutes or more. Other tidbits of interest include a new Your Phone app that allows users to send and receive content between their computer and phone, with Timeline coming to the phone as well, allowing users to scroll back in time to find files and such, all from the palm of their hand. While the latest Windows 10 update brings a number of new features, it also appears to come with a file-wiping bug. You can add as many tiles as you can and when you expand the folder, you'll see a new option to name it.
The Your Phone app extends Android smartphone and iPhone use to PCs. Of course you can use Ctrl+V in the same way, but Windows+V displays a new panel, powered by Windows Timeline. The updated game bar will offer better audio customization, easier-to-use capture tools, and the ability to block Windows Update from interrupting your gaming session (maybe there is a god after all?).
What is good about the program is that it checks the installed version and tells you right away if an update is available.
