He told Cooper he had gone back and forth on whether to speak out - "there is very little upside for me and there is considerable downside for me" - but that "at the end of the day it feels like there are not enough people who are willing and can credibly say" they know Ramirez "and she didn't lie and wouldn't lie".
Other than Ramirez, at least two other women have accused Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct: Christine Blasey Ford, a California professor who claims the judge sexually assaulted her when they were teenagers; and Julie Swetnick, who has accused Kavanaugh of being present during a "gang rape" in the early 1980s.
Roche added that Kavanaugh was also a "heavy drinker" and "became aggressive and belligerent when he was drunk".
Roche had previously issued a statement ahead of the Kavanaugh-Ford hearing in which he expressed support for Deborah Ramirez, one of the accusers, and said he remembered Kavanaugh "frequently drinking excessively and becoming incoherently drunk". "He would throw up, and then in the morning would have a lot of trouble getting out of bed".
Richard Oh, who attended Yale at the same time Ramirez and Kavanaugh were students there, wrote in the declaration that he recalled a female student telling him that "what she initially thought was a plastic penis was exhibited, but she later realized it was a male student's exposed penis".
First, he wrote an op-ed in Slate and has also been seen on CNN programs discussing his experience with Kavanaugh.
It appears he will not be given the opportunity, however.

U.S. Senator for Indiana Todd Young (R-Ind.) says the FBI's investigation into Kavanaughdoesn't back up any of the allegations against him. Jeff Flake, R-Ariz., who pushed to delay the vote on Kavanaugh so the FBI could investigate, said the judge would not be confirmed if the probe revealed he had lied to senators.
According to Roche, Kavanaugh was lying when he explained terms in his yearbook to the Senate Judiciary Committee last Thursday, saying that "boofing" meant flatulence and "Devil's Triangle" is a drinking game.
"We each asserted that Brett lied to the Senate by stating, under oath, that he never drank to the point of forgetting what he was doing", Charles Ludington, Lynne Brookes and Elizabeth Swisher wrote in an editorial for the Washington Post.
Ludington, who said he had contacted the Federal Bureau of Investigation with his information, indicated in a statement Sunday that Kavanaugh was "belligerent and aggressive" when he drank.
One of the most important former classmates of Kavanaugh is Kenneth Appold who is now a professor at Princeton's Theological Seminary.
Brett Kavanaugh lied under oath. My mother, who has since passed away, was a Republican state representative in CT.
However, Roche explained that he chose to speak because "Debbie needed someone to help her be heard". Drinking too much, while "terrible" and "dangerous", was common in college, he said. "I don't think it would be fair to share those in public".
