A man shot by an officer after he opened fire at the Del Mar Fairgrounds was in stable condition on Monday, authorities said.
A man who fired shots into a crowded area because he was upset he couldn't get into a sold-out concert by the rapper Ice Cube was shot and wounded by a sheriff's deputy Sunday evening in Del Mar, Calif., police said. The deputies then shot him.
Seconds after the horses in Del Mar's 10th and final race crossed the finish line, gunshots were fired outside the track's fountain admission gate, according to numerous reports. The man, identified as 22-year-old Daniel Elizarraras, was taken to hospital and is expected to survive, the San Diego Sheriff's Department stated.
Shocking footage caught the moment commentators screamed "there's gun fire at the track" and a jockey was flung from his horse.
Sheriff's deputies received reports of gunfire at the fairgrounds at around 7 p.m.
England reveal the playing XI for the 4th Test
Sam Curran salvaged England after their top order failed again on the first day of the fourth Test against India in Southampton . Batting on six, Bairstow edged another fine delivery from Bumrah to keeper Rishabh Pant as England floundered on 28 for three.
The race track later tweeted that the situation was contained, and the concert would go on as scheduled.
No other details were immediately available, and police are yet to release any information on the incident. After an argument ensued, Elizarraras pulled out a silver plated semi-automatic handgun and reportedly fired three shots in the air.
Ice Cube, who once rapped "shotgun bullets is bad for yo' health", was due to perform at San Diego's Del Mar Racecourse on Sunday.
The Del Mar Thoroughbred Club said in a statement that under its special events protocol, substantial law enforcement and private security were on site during the event.
