HBO on Sunday revealed the first footage from True Detective Season 3, which is set to launch in January 2019. The anthology series has been away for a few years and it's not really a mystery as to why that ended up being the case. Visually it resembles the murky, moody aesthetic of the show's first season, which starred Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson as detectives investigating a murder in a limpid, dishevelled Louisiana.
Can Mahershala Ali bring True Detective back? This time round, he's also slated to direct. Beyond that, it's just interesting glimpses and mysterious imagery. Your guess is as good as mine as we try to decipher what is going on in this short, yet intriguing look at the series that ends with Ali saying: "I want to know the whole story". We're guessing he's not the only one.
