IS militants in the area have come under attack from Syrian government forces backed by Russian air power from the west and US-supported Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) backed by United States coalition air power from the east.
"We are forwarding the report to our Civilian Casualty Cell for further assessment on this allegation", the spokesperson for the coalition US Col. Sean Ryan told Rudaw English.
At least 35 civilians were killed late Thursday by airstrikes on a Daesh-held position in Syria's Deir ez-Zor province.
The Syrian foreign ministry called the attack a "massacre" and an act of aggression by the "illegal coalition", adding coalition forces in Syria are occupiers because they are in the country without its permission.
The U.S. -led coalition is fighting the remnants of Islamic State on both sides of the border between Syria and Iraq.
The Coalition said it or "partner forces" may have conducted the strikes.

Daesh now holds roughly 2,000 square kilometers along the eastern bank of the Euphrates River near the border with Iraq. In Syria it operates in support of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), an alliance of militias that includes Kurds.
SANA has put the death toll at more than 30, claiming the dead are mostly women and children.

Most of the province of Deir al-Zour has been controlled by Islamic state since 2014, but the extremist group has suffered military setbacks, losing most of the ground it controlled in Syria and neighbouring Iraq.
With the northwestern province of Idlib the last major bastion of insurgent-controlled territory, and ISIS reduced to even smaller pockets of influence, the Syrian government has regained control of most of the country, leaving about a quarter of it in the hands of the US -backed Syrian Democratic Forces, whose large Kurdish faction has worked both against and in support of the Syrian government at various times throughout the war.
