Incredibles 2 smashes animated-movie opening weekend record

"Incredibles 2" flexed its muscles at the box office this weekend.

Following its opening weekend in the US, "The Incredibles 2" is already smashing records, reportedly drawing in as much as $180 million (roughly £136 million) in a matter of days.

It's also the second-biggest June opening, behind only 2015's "Jurassic World" and the eighth biggest debut of all time.

In second place was female heist flick "Ocean's 8", which followed up on a big opening by earning $19.6 million in its second week, according to Exhibitor Relations. "The challenge of juggling everything life throws at you-even if you have superpowers-is still relatable".

Internationally, the film took in an estimates $51.5 million, bringing its worldwide total as of now to $231.5 million at the worldwide box office. The film received mixed reviews from critics with a 54 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes, but it was also awarded a B+ CinemaScore from audiences. "Solo" has earned only $183 million domestically, while "Deadpool 2" has knocked it out of the park with $285 million and a global $665 million. Right now, the movie is in 4,410 North American venues. The film remains on track to reel in about $8 million for the weekend.
